I like looking at boobies as much as the next person, but this cover makes me so outraged that I turn into your Grandma from Truro. Power Girl's chest is clearly the most important part of this cover, which to me, says that this is a shitty comic. And the way Supergirl's body is all contorted (but still supposed to be hot?) is just gross. Normally Power Girl is at least pretty muscle-y, but here she's nothing but boobs.

Rachelle, you should do a post about how poor Power Girl got to this state. Wasn't there an artist who was drawing her chest bigger and bigger every issue? Dave, can you confirm this? Also, do you think that it was a comment on objectification of women in comic books, or just, you know, a boob joke?

If I gave a shit about Power Girl, maybe I would.

But I don't.

Wikipedia.com says that Power Girl is a feminist.

Also: "Artist Wally Wood told friends that he intended to draw her chest larger in each issue until the editors noticed."

Sorry Tiina, I got to this thread too late and Wikipedia beat me to it. Wally Wood is one of my favourite old-school comic artists and this was kind of a funny idea, but it sucks that his private joke became editorial dictate somewhere down the line, apparently.

I'm not really sure what the point of Power Girl is now, other than I guess she's the last survivor of Earth-2? Maybe? It seems like Infinite Crisis was supposed to make her all relevant or something, but having her as a supporting character in Supergirl really shows off her redundancy (other than to make SG jealous of her giant boobs, I guess).

I've never given much of a damn about Powergirl either and clearly DC doesn't either, else they wouldn't keep giving her inflatable boobs with a window in the costume. If she's suposed to be a feminist why does she look like pure eye candy for breast obsessed geeks? Some kind of comicbook irony I guess.

That art work means only one thing, Sex sells. I believe Supergirl is having a hard time selling the comics for them to be making promos like that one
