Charlotte, Here I Come!
I am officially going to Charlotte, NC for HeroesCon in June! I am very excited. Not only have I never been to North Carolina before, I have never been to a comic convention before! I hear this is a really good one.
The nice boys from The Dollar Bin invited me down, so I'll be hanging out at their table (I believe) when I'm not running around the convention centre totally overwhelmed and exploding with nerdy glee. Or when I'm not eating as much pit BBQ as humanly possible.
So if you are going to be at HeroesCon, let me know and we can meet and chat and stuff. Or drink beer. I like beer.
I have a limited knowledge of Charlotte. I basically associate two things with the city: BBQ and Charlotte Hornets Starter Jackets:
Stylin'! I picture every resident of Charlotte wearing this at all times.
I can't wait!

You may actually be cuffed to our table while down there. We'll see if we can work out some floor time for you though. I am sooo excited!
Just to give you a heads up, the Hornets are no longer in Charlotte. They're in New Orleans. MIGHT get a few comments about that if you're wearing the jacket... :)
That's great! Come look me up at the Kids Love Comics booth and I'll give you the lowdown on your upcoming appearance in the pages of "Batman Strikes"...
As far as I know, Charlotte is also full of NASCAR fans. LOTS of 'em.
Once they moved to the big sleazy, the hornets became a million times better. Not only do they have the best soundtrack in basketball, they've got this amazingness

oh, and there a little better at basketball too.
I'm pretty sure the North Carolina 23 will pretty much never go out of fashion there though.
Only Hornets have nothing to do with New Orleans and all. That always weirds me out. If you're buying a franchise, you might as well rename them something prescient to your city.

I think they were waiting for Utah to give the name Jazz back. Someone needs to inform the current Jazz owners that the names Whiteys, All-Whites, and Polygamists are still available.
I was trying to remember if there were any superheroes from the Carolina area, and I'm drawing a blank. I don't think they've even gotten a team in the supposed "50 state" initiative (reads:if you're not in New York, then screw you.) Can anyone remember any?
I want Utah to change their name to the All-Whites.
It's always funny when a team leaves a city but keeps the city-specific name. But the Utah Jazz is probably the least appropriate.

you glorious girl you, i dearly hope every resident of Charlotte is indeed kitted out in stylin jackets like that.
Glad to hear you're going. It's a great con. It was my first con a few years ago, and I found it fun, friendly, and easy to manage. Hope to see you there!

Actually, "All Whites" is the name of New Zealand's national soccer team, so it is taken :p
